NEW YORK, NY – November 28, 2023:
With overwhelming enthusiasm around initial sold-out releases of the DAP GAP hoodie, Dapper Dan and Gap announce their latest collection on Giving Tuesday, which features hoodies and expands the assortment to introduce kids’ clothing, sweatpants, and accessories. Dapper Dan will exclusively debut the collection to his Harlem community on December 4 at the Gap 125th Street store, where he will meet fans ahead of the wider drop on December 5.
Dap is a fashion innovator who has shaped culture for decades and proudly represents Harlem, the community that he is inspired by each day. The newest DAP GAP collection has 18 pieces, including graphic logo hoodies that boldly feature “Harlem” with the DAP logo, matching logo sweatpants in houndstooth print, a tote bag with clutch insert, baseball hats, socks, and a logo ascot. The collection is available in sizes toddler 12-18 months to adult XXXL and retails from $25 to $128.
“A breakthrough is when people finally find their space in areas they have never been before, but a breakout is when you take the culture and the people who created it and bring it around the world. When Gap came to me, this partnership signified a breakout for the culture,” said Dapper Dan. “This DAP GAP campaign is my love letter to Harlem, and my way of continuing to propel our culture and community forward. Gap gave us the global presence that allowed us to have the breakout and I can’t wait for the next generation to be a part of this movement.”
The DAP GAP campaign represents a visual bridge where Harlem and Gap meet — shot and directed by Ghanaian American creative photographer, Joshua Kissi, who captures visually dynamic yet relatable portraits of each subject. Through these portraits, we see an authentic and beautiful story with a multigenerational cast of Harlem legends and the next generation of changemakers. Alongside the portraits is a one-minute film featuring Dap’s powerful love letter to Harlem that spotlights each cast member, including:
-
