About the Role
Gap Inc’s Strategic Growth Office (“SGO”) is at the forefront of driving our next chapter of growth. Gap Inc. established the SGO to focus on long-term growth and new growth opportunities across its purpose-led billion-dollar brands and beyond its core businesses. Part of this growth will be fueled by GPS Apparel by Gap Inc. You will have the opportunity to be part of the founding team for GPS Apparel and build and grow our uniform channel. As the Design Director, you will be responsible for leading the creative vision for GPS Apparel, inclusive of various enterprise accounts. In this role, you will work in an energizing, inclusive, and creative environment focused on concepting and creating product that delivers on the needs for various customers. Your goal is to partner with cross functional team members who collectively are responsible for ensuring that the product style, fit, and quality deliver on the specific needs of the businesses we partner with. As a critical member of the GPS Apparel Leadership Team, you will manage and direct a creative design team that is responsible for setting the overall design direction for the product line. Must lead with curiosity for problem solving and an own it, do it, done attitude!
What You'll Do
- Lead team through all aspects of the product design process, providing creative direction, coaching, and developing a motivated, high performing team.
- Research competitive market in order to identify new seasonal trends, silhouettes, fabrics, techniques, product categories and competitive inspiration.
- Develop overall design vision and concept for GPS Apparel, advocating and presenting strategies to internal leadership, cross functional partners, and external B2B accounts.
- Develop strong internal cross functional relationships with Merchandising, Production, Technical Design, Gap Inc Sourcing (GIS), to ensure product concept to execution is a seamless experience for our business partners
- Tech pack/BOM creation and communication including fit intent while partnering with cross functional leaders to enable execution, quality, and desired costs are achieved.
- Responsible for planning, budget, and end results; set policies and strategic direction for design team.
- Active in-person and virtual participation with customer(s) including concept presentations, customer engagement events, employee interaction etc.
Who You Are
- Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and highly collaborative environment, with the ability to juggle multiple seasons at one time and track development deadlines
- Ability to lead, influence and develop a high performing team.
- Possess an elevated sense of style, aesthetic, and color and understand how to translate trends through the lens of the customer and brand filter
- Strong computer knowledge including Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Excel
- Able to filter, prioritize, analyze, and validate potentially complex in-depth understanding of concepts and procedures throughout the product creation process related to garment construction, hand sketching, and fabric, and understanding of procedures and concepts in other areas, such as merchandising, product development, mills and vendors.

Salary Range: $161,000 - $213,400 USD
Employee pay will vary based on factors such as qualifications, experience, skill level, competencies and work location. We will meet minimum wage or minimum of the pay range (whichever is higher) based on city, county and state requirements.
