This isn’t just about managing headlines — it’s about shaping narratives that protect and strengthen our reputation while driving cultural relevance.

As Sr. Director, Media & Crisis Communications, you’ll serve as a trusted advisor to our executive team, guiding high-profile media engagements and leading strategies that safeguard and amplify our brand. You’ll own the playbook for proactive storytelling and rapid response, ensuring Gap Inc. remains a respected, influential voice in the global conversation.

What You'll Do

Lead with Strategy:

  • Develop and execute bold media strategies that position Gap Inc. as a leader in fashion, culture, and purpose.
  • Partner with executive leadership to craft narratives that reflect our values and business priorities.
  • Own LinkedIn and non-traditional media strategies to expand our reach and influence.

Crisis & Reputation Management:

  • Anticipate and prepare for the unexpected with robust crisis communication plans.
  • Manage sensitive issues with discretion and confidence, protecting the integrity of our brands.
  • Monitor media sentiment and industry trends to proactively mitigate reputational risks.

Media Relations & Storytelling:

  • Serve as spokesperson for high-impact stories and issues, representing Gap Inc. with authority and authenticity.
  • Build and nurture relationships with top-tier journalists, influencers, and industry voices.
  • Drive proactive storytelling that showcases our purpose, innovation, and leadership.

Executive Visibility & Thought Leadership:

  • Support CEO and executive visibility and thought leadership through strategic media engagements and social platforms.
  • Craft compelling content that amplifies leadership voices and reinforces Gap Inc.’s business priorities.

Engage Emerging Media Platforms:

  • Develop a forward-thinking approach to leverage new forms of media—such as Substack, podcasts, and creator-driven channels—to amplify brand and corporate storytelling, reach niche audiences, and foster authentic conversations.
  • Build relationships with influential voices on these platforms and integrate them into broader communications strategies for maximum impact.

Collaboration & Impact:

  • Work closely with PR teams, cross-functional partners, and external agencies.
  • Measure effectiveness of media strategies and share insights to continuously refine our approach.

Who You Are

  • 12+ years in media relations and crisis communications, with proven success in high-stakes environments.
  • A strategic thinker and master storyteller who thrives under pressure.
  • Skilled in social media strategy and executive visibility.
  • A trusted advisor with exceptional judgment, emotional intelligence, and diplomacy.
  • Experienced in managing budgets, agencies, and cross-functional teams.
  • Passionate about shaping narratives that inspire confidence and drive impact.
