The Communications Manager - Corporate Social Responsibility will play an essential role within the Gap Inc. Global Communications team to create, build, execute and lead a dynamic and engaging communications strategy. This strategic, creative, and hands-on individual will craft plans and content that generate excitement about the company internally and externally and drive engagement with employees, consumers, and communities – all under the umbrella of Gap Inc.’s purpose, Inclusive, by Design.

We are looking for someone curious and excited to tell our story with our diversity & inclusion, community, and sustainability teams. The role will also work across critical internal partners, including Corporate Governance, Risk Management, Government Affairs, and Legal.

As part of a high-performing team, the successful candidate will have a bias for action, be comfortable working in a fast-moving environment and bring a solid understanding of the corporate communications function. Including a working knowledge of the business media environment and is proficient with crafting effective plans to help drive maximum impact, engagement, and visibility.

This role will lead and execute 360-degree communications plans against Gap Inc.’s key initiatives across the full values portfolio (sustainability, equality and belonging, government affairs, Gap Foundation).

What you'll do

  • Build and manage proactive communications plans -- including content, execution timelines, and distribution strategies -- for internal and external audiences supporting Gap Inc.’s values teams (ESG, Government Affairs, Foundation, and Equality & Belonging).
  • Partner and collaborate with key stakeholders across sustainability, equality and belonging, Gap Foundation, as well as Gap Inc.’s Global Comms team.
  • Write compelling, persuasive internal and external content in support of Inc.’s leadership team.
  • Distill and synthesize data and information from across the company to develop a range of communications materials (speeches, newsletters, bylines, blog posts, press releases, presentations, etc.)
  • Create and manage project timelines to ensure deadlines are met, and events run seamlessly; understand business priorities, company values, and industry trends to shape audience-relevant communications.
  • Support crisis response, working with Communications Leadership Team + ESG partners to manage crisis response initiatives, develop response strategy and execute accordingly.
  • Use metrics and reporting to track internal results, measure effectiveness, and identify needs: measure and track results; prepare presentations and reports for executives, and leverage results to make recommendations and refine communications approach.

Who you are

  • An individual contributor who is curious about our business and is confident and responsive working with executives.
  • Minimum 5 years of directly relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities; in-house Corporate Communications experience ideal. Experience with CSR, Public Affairs, and DE&I communications a plus.
  • Superb, persuasive writing skills, experience on an executive communications team, and proficient at executive presentations and reports.
  • Highly organized with acute attention to detail and a proven track record of working in a cross-functional communications environment.
  • Vital networking and relationship-building skills; ability to influence others to take action; experience working with high-profile consumer brands is preferred.
  • Demonstrated agility with juggling multiple projects under deadline, optimizing resources, and self-prioritizing work; a successful candidate is highly collaborative, inclusive, creative, and flexible.
  • Experience defining KPIs, managing reporting, and showcasing data-driven results.
