About the role

Responsible for protecting the assets of the company and ensuring a safe environment for our DC employees and visitors. The LP Lead assists with the recruiting, training, development and supervision of Loss Prevention Agents. The LP Lead coordinates the activities of 2-8 LP Agents to perform duties that directly support the core supply chain LP responsibilities of physical security, safety, inventory management, auditing, and investigations. The LP Lead utilizes the tools and resources available to initiate, coordinate and manage internal investigations. The LP Lead, and their team of LP Agents, works closely with DC Operations to increase LP awareness, maintain operational excellence and minimize shortage within their area of responsibility. The LP Lead assists the local LP Management Team with the daily operations of the department and facility and serves as the primary point of contact for DC Operations in the absence of LP Management. The LP Lead also serves as a primary point of contact with the public (eg. visitors, law enforcement and other government officials).

What you'll do

  • Drive a culture of shortage awareness by implementing and maintaining effective education and training programs
  • Maintain a functional knowledge of all DC functions and warehouse management systems (WMS, nWMS, WMOS)
  • Can explain all, and work in most, operational departments. Maintains communication channels with Operations Management to identify target areas of opportunity. Provides feedback on operational opportunities.
  • Responsible for coordinating, and performing – as needed, inventory control audits in dedicated and/or integrated distribution environments:
    A. Retail: inbound, stocking, picking (manual pick, put to store & sortation), shipping, and quality control
    B. Online: inbound, stocking, picking (manual pick, sortation), packing, shipping, and quality control, e-commerce system audits, refundseturns, missing packages, fraud/chargebacks
  • Responsible for initiating and managing internal and external investigations based off the above audit results and/or information received from floor associates
  • Responsible for assisting Supply Chain Investigations Managers, Field Investigators and Field Loss Prevention partners investigations as requested
  • Assists in pipeline and brand protection investigations; including off-campus site visits and audits as required
  • Act as a witness during loss prevention interviews as conducted by LP Leaders (Supervisors, Managers, etc…) in distribution centers and stores
  • Advise Loss Prevention Management of all investigations

1. Leadership, training and development 25%

  • Works closely with the LP Supervisor to develop schedules and determines assignments for LP Agents.
  • Oversee the general and daily activities of between 2 and 8 Loss Prevention Agents.
  • Coordinate all aspects of each shift by ensuring that all functions of the shift are being executed; including daily breaks, weekly and monthly audit responsibilities and assisting in the initiation of investigations
  • Train all LP Agents in all aspects of their daily, weekly and monthly responsibilities
  • Monitor work assignments and projects for the Loss Prevention Agents, to assist in their professional development
  • Coach and motivate staff to ensure goals are achieved and that service levels are maintained or exceeded.
  • Participate in and supervise the on-boarding process for all new LP Agents within area of responsibility.
  • Participate in New Employee Orientation classes as well as individual training sessions with DC employees to foster a positive LP culture.
  • Assist LP Management Team with the daily operations of the department and facility
  • Act as liaison with Operations Management and assist with their needs as appropriate
  • Assumes leadership responsibilities in the absence of the LP Management

3. Maintain a safe + crime-free environment for DC employees and visitors. 25%

  • Maintain communications between Loss Prevention and Facility Management
  • Responsible for the access control and physical security of the local distribution center(s). Partner with LP Agents to ensure all access control, physical security and safety/BCP compliance expectations are being executed effectively.
  • Access control:
  • Manage and maintain the local card access system (create neweplacement badges, deactivate badges)
  • Monitor associate, vendor and visitor entrances and exits from the buildings and parking lots.
  • Ensure that all contractors and visitors are signed in and escorted to work areas
  • Interact with law enforcement, emergency services and other government agencies that visit the campus in accordance with Gap Inc. policies and procedures
  • Physical Security:
    • Conduct bag checks on all associates, vendors and visitors entering and leaving the building
    • Responsible for keeping the facility secure during non-operational hours
    • Monitor and respond to local facility alarms
    • Monitor maintain the local CCTV system
    • Conduct internal and external security patrols
    • Perform system tests and inform LP Supervisor of equipment in need of repair
    • Coordinate repairs for all alarms burglar and fire alarm and CCTV systems the local distribution center(s)
    • Assist with alarm system testing and modifications for the campus by working in conjunction with the alarm company; obtain new bids when required
  • Safety/Business Continuity Planning (BCP):
    • Assist with emergency events (eg. Fire, Tornado and Earthquake)
    • Serve as first responder for safety incidents
    • Responsible for dispatching life squads, fire department and police departments as needed while acting as departmental liaison with these agencies, LP Leadership and DC Operations when required
  • Trailer activity:
    • Responsible for managing all inbound and outbound trailer activity; or oversee the contract security officers charged with these tasks where applicable
    • Inbound: Verification of seal chain of custody and ensure the bills of lading are properly received and stamped in the absence of receiving personnel.
    • Outbound: Checking bills of lading against trailer and seal numbers assuring that the shipments have proper documentation.
    • Maintain inbound & outbound trailer logs
    • Maintain the physical security of the trailer yard
    • Teach, coach and train LP Agents respond appropriately to crisis and security incidents; including resolution and follow u to leaders.
    • Generate LP incident reports for security and safety events
    • Review incident reports submitted by LP Agents to ensure compliance with loss prevention standards.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: Will have daily interaction with the local Loss Prevention team, DC Operations management and associates. Works closely with LP Supervisor and is responsible for the training and development of LP Agents. Interfaces with Field and Corporate Business (ie. Supply Chain Investigations Managers, Store Loss Prevention teams, HR, ER, Transportation). Interacts frequently with visitors, law enforcement and other government agencies.

2) Minimum educational/experience level:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 4 years or retail Loss Prevention experience, or Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (preferred)
  • State certification required, where applicable.
3) Physical Requirements:
  • Be available to work any shift or facility within campus upon request appropriate to business needs
  • Must be able to stand/walk distribution center floor for hours at a time.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50lbs.
