About the role

Leads the Gap Specialty HQ visual merchandising teams and is responsible for the development and implementation of the visual strategy and direction for the stores. Drives the overall brand positioning around specific product and seasonal messages for all sub-brands including Adult, Body, Teen, Kids, and Baby.

What you'll do

  • Responsible for the creative and visual merchandising direction for all sub-brands including Adult, Body, Teen, Kids, and Baby—balancing the creative with commercial.

  • Set strategy and provide direction for the overall look and feel of the stores.

  • In partnership with the Senior Director, Store Experience, develop special treatment for Top Stores that elevate the brand through enhanced visual presentation and customer experience.

  • As needed, partnering with the Senior Director and Store Design on developing new fixtures and display elements.

  • Manages Line Adoption store set process and results.

  • Responsible for the conceptualization, development and implementation of visual strategy and direction given to all Gap Specialty stores.

  • Responsible for building, managing and developing high-performing visual merchandising teams at HQ.

  • Provide a balanced creative and operational leadership; to inspire, and to identify and develop the talent within the team.

  • Must gain alignment on seasonal visual presentations with senior leadership team during walk-throughs and presentations.

  • Build, train, develop and motivate a growing team and able to partner effectively with key cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless execution of the vision for the brand for the season.

  • Able to build strong cross-functional relationships with all business partners including Design, Merchandising, IM, Marketing, Field/Store Operations and Store Design.

  • Able to develop and maintain a creative environment that fosters innovation.

  • Responsible for development and production of all visual merchandising communication vehicles. Uses strong communication skills (verbal, written and visual) to ensure consistent execution of visual direction in all stores through HQ and Field Visual Teams.

  • Develop and maintain Visual Presentation Standards

Who you are

  • 10+ years apparel retail visual merchandising experience.

  • 2+ years at Director Level

  • Position located in New York.

  • Partner closely with Design, Marketing, Merchandising, Inventory Management, Field/Store Operations and Store Design.

  • Strong demonstrated drive for results.

  • Strong creative skills, and real passion for product.

  • Ability to move the business forward by constantly creating newness and impact.

  • Strategic agility; can anticipate future trends accurately and can create competitive and breakthrough strategies and plans.

  • Strong command presence skills; have strong leadership skills and a point of view.

  • Proven track record of building and developing effective individuals and teams.

  • Must be highly organized and able to balance creative and operational needs of the role.
