Athleta
February 16, 2021
Today, Athleta introduces its new Amplify Artist Series, a quarterly collection of product collaborations to further the brand's commitment to empower and amplify the voices of BIPOC women and girls. Each quarter, Athleta will collaborate with a Black female artist to create limited edition products—such as tees, masks or totes—and spotlight the artist for customers to learn more about their story, promote their artwork, and offer engaging ways to connect with them. In celebration of the initiative, Athleta will donate all proceeds from these collections to a charity of the artist’s choice.
Inaugural Artist: Kendra Dandy
The first featured artist is Kendra Dandy, Philadelphia-based artist and illustrator, who brought her bright and beautiful art to life by creating inspiring, limited edition mask packs and graphic tees, which are available for purchase today. One hundred percent of the proceeds from these items will go to BuyFromaBlackWoman.org, supporting Black women business owners through education, grants, fundraising and community. This organization was chosen by Dandy and for upcoming features, each artist will choose a cause that is important to her.
“It’s always been there for me. It’s what I do, it’s who I am. It’s both my hobby and my profession—and kind of my identity. Art isn’t just in my life, it is my life.” — Kendra Dandy
