Old Navy

We go way back with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Gap Inc. co-founder Don Fisher was a volunteer and board member at the Boys & Girls Club of San Francisco for 46 years—in fact, one of nonprofit’s clubhouses in San Francisco is named in his honor. And Old Navy has been a huge supporter of Boys & Girls Clubs over the years in San Francisco and far beyond. Many of Old Navy’s stores across North America have formed relationships with their local clubhouse, with employees volunteering there frequently.
Now, Old Navy President and CEO Sonia Syngal is carrying on this tradition. Recently, she was appointedas the newest addition to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America national board of governors.
As a board member, she’ll help guide the work of more than 4,300 Boys & Girls Clubs and affiliated youth centers on U.S. military installations worldwide. “At Old Navy, we believe in paying it forward. Opening doors for youth and helping them build promising futures is just one of the ways we give back,” said Sonia.
Every year, more than four million kids and teens take part in club activities that range from athletics and theater groups to programs that help them prepare for college and careers. Clubs also offer tutoring, SAT prep, STEM programs, behavioral health services and much more.
Boys & Girls Clubs are already a perfect fit with Old Navy’s ONward! cause platform, through which the brand partners with nonprofits to empower young people with real-world skills, training and jobs. Last November alone, Old Navy donated $1 million to Boys & Girls Clubs after a wildly successful Black Friday campaign. For every pair of $1 Cozy Socks purchased in stores that day, Old Navy pledged $1, up to $1 million. Customers snapped up more than two million pairs of the socks (enough to line the entire coastline of California!).
The Black Friday donation will expand Gap Inc’s This Way Ahead job training and mentorship program to Boys & Girls club youth, giving them a foot in the door with a first job in Old Navy stores.
