About the Role
The Vice President of Platforms & Operations is a senior technology leader responsible for building and operating the critical infrastructure, platforms, and service operations that power our retail business—from stores to supply chain to digital commerce. This role ensures the stability, scalability, and agility of hybrid cloud infrastructure, enables modern engineering practices through robust DevOps and platform engineering capabilities, and drives operational excellence across all ITIL service management disciplines.
This leader will be instrumental in shaping the future of technology platforms that support both our customer-facing and enterprise systems in a fast-paced, high-volume retail environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and manage a modern retail Infrastructure (Compute, Storage, Database, Backup, Messaging Infra, Middleware, etc.)
- Lead the strategy, architecture, and operations of infrastructure platforms supporting physical stores, distribution centers, and digital commerce.
- Manage on-prem and cloud-native infrastructure to ensure availability, security, and performance across our omnichannel ecosystem.
- Optimize infrastructure costs, usage, and lifecycle across hybrid environments with a focus on retail agility and resilience.
- Support the creation and maintenance of technology platforms that enable efficient and effective solution delivery.
- Oversee key tools and systems that enhance development, deployment, and operational workflows.
- Guide strategic initiatives to improve team productivity and accelerate innovation.
- Own the execution of ITIL-based processes including Incident, Change, Release, Problem, and Configuration Management, tailored for the unique needs of retail operations.
- Build a culture of operational excellence and service reliability with clear accountability for uptime, SLA compliance, and root cause remediation.
- Lead the Major Incident Management function, ensuring rapid triage and resolution for store outages, supply chain disruptions, or digital performance issues.
- Drive Site Reliability Engineering to maintain the reliability of each environment
- Build and maintain Disaster Recovery aligned to business impact analysis of critical functions
Leadership Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and scale global teams across Infrastructure, SRE, Platform Engineering, and Service Operations.
- Partner with Technology, Digital, Stores, Supply Chain, and Product leaders to deliver frictionless customer and associate experiences.
- Translate enterprise retail goals into technology strategy and operational execution, balancing innovation with stability and compliance.
Who You Are
Qualifications
- 15+ years in infrastructure, operations, and/or platform engineering leadership roles, with experience in large-scale retail or consumer-facing environments.
- Expertise in managing hybrid cloud infrastructure, containerized environments, and enterprise-scale observability and automation platforms.
- Deep understanding of ITIL service operations, especially within high-availability, customer-critical systems (e.g., POS, OMS, ecommerce).
- Demonstrated ability to lead through transformation, modernizing legacy systems while maintaining uptime and operational rigor.
- Strong collaboration skills and executive presence, able to influence across product, engineering, security, and business functions.
Preferred
- Experience in omnichannel retail environments (store, digital, supply chain, and corporate systems).
- Knowledge of PCI compliance, data privacy, and retail security standards.
- Experience building or operating Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) or platforms supporting hundreds of agile teams.
- Advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Salary Range: $290,000 - $330,000 USD
Employee pay will vary based on factors such as qualifications, experience, skill level, competencies and work location.
