About the role
We are seeking an experienced Digital Technician to support on-set capture workflows within our high-volume photo studio. This role is responsible for reliable day-to-day execution across photography and video productions, including capture setup, file management, color accuracy, quality assurance, and technical troubleshooting.The Digital Technician will work closely with photographers, stylists, production, creative, and post-production teams to ensure assets are captured, organized, processed, and delivered according to studio standards.
What you'll do
On-Set Digital Technician
- Oversee and execute on-set capture workflows for photography and video assets.
- Collect, edit, name, and process all on-set imagery according to studio standards.
- Collaborate closely with photographers and stylists to support color accuracy and image consistency.
- Perform on-set quality assurance, including color management and monitor calibration.
- Capture and edit video assets on set as required.
- Set up and manage capture stations, monitors, computers, cameras, and peripherals daily.
- Troubleshoot technical issues on set in real time to help maintain production flow.
- Assist photographers with equipment setup and breakdown as needed.
- Support production, creative, and marketing teams during figure shoots.
Workflow & Standards
- Follow standardized digital capture workflows across all shoots.
- Ensure consistent application of file naming, folder structures, color pipelines, and delivery standards.
- Support workflow improvements and automation opportunities by identifying issues and sharing feedback with studio leadership.
- Escalate technical or workflow issues when needed.
- Maintain consistency across shooting environments by following established studio processes.
Documentation & Systems
- Use and reference technical documentation, including capture workflows, color management standards, equipment setup guides, and troubleshooting playbooks.
- Support updates to documentation by identifying process changes, recurring issues, or areas needing clarification.
- Collaborate with Production, Creative, Post, and other studio partners to ensure workflows remain aligned with current needs.
Equipment & Infrastructure Support
- Maintain day-to-day equipment readiness, including cameras, computers, capture stations, monitors, and peripherals.
- Perform routine setup, testing, calibration, and basic maintenance of digital tech equipment.
- Ensure consistent system configuration across stages and shooting environments.
- Identify and communicate technical risks related to equipment or infrastructure before they impact production.
Who you are
- 3+ years experience in a high-volume photo studio environment.
- 3+ years experience as an on-set Digital Technician.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills in fast-paced production environments.
- Advanced working knowledge of Capture One.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere and video capture workflows.
- Strong understanding of color management and monitor calibration practices.
- Technical knowledge of Macintosh hardware and software.
- Experience with Adobe Photoshop, FileMaker, and Canon camera systems.
- Phase One Certification preferred.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with photographers, stylists, production, creative, and post-production teams.
- Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow established workflows and contribute to process improvements.
Salary Range: $76,400.00 - $95,500.00
Employee pay will vary based on factors such as qualifications, experience, skill level, competencies and work location. We will meet minimum wage or minimum of the pay range (whichever is higher) based on city, county and state requirements.
