About the Role
The Director of Human Rights, Labor & Gender Equity will be a senior leader within Gap Inc.’s Global Sustainability team, shaping and advancing our commitment to respect human rights, uphold international labor standards, and promote gender equity across our global supply chain. This role will lead the design and oversight of strategies that drive systemic change, while directly managing the Manager of Human Rights & Women’s Empowerment. The Director will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners in Vendor Compliance, Supply Chain, Legal, Corporate Affairs, and external stakeholders to ensure Gap Inc. remains a leader in responsible sourcing and worker well-being. With a focus on strategic influence, issue response, and impact measurement, this role plays a critical part in delivering on Gap Inc.’s commitment to bridge the equity gap within our supply chain.
What You'll Do
- Set and lead strategy to integrate human rights, labor standards, and gender equity into Gap Inc.’s global supply chain, ensuring alignment with the company’s regulatory obligations, sustainability goals, and values.
- Oversee and mentor the Manager, Human Rights & Women’s Empowerment, guiding program execution and professional development, and partner with the Vendor Compliance team to ensure program excellence.
- Represent Gap Inc. externally with NGOs, multi-stakeholder initiatives, government agencies, and industry peers to advance systemic change on human rights, international labor standards and gender equity.
- Partner internally across functions (Supply Chain, Legal, Corporate Affairs, Government Affairs) to embed human rights and labor priorities into business decisions.
- Lead governance and reporting efforts, translating program outcomes into measurable impact for senior leadership and external stakeholders.
- Design and oversee issue-response protocols, addressing risks or violations in supply chains swiftly and responsibly.
- Drive capability building for internal teams and suppliers to strengthen awareness, skills, and accountability for human rights and gender equity.
Who You Are
- Experienced leader with 10+ years in human rights, labor standards, gender equity, or corporate sustainability—with demonstrated success influencing at a global scale.
- Skilled in strategic partnership building and external representation, with strong networks across NGOs, industry groups, and/or multilateral organizations.
- Strong cross-functional collaborator and communicator, able to align diverse stakeholders and drive results in complex environments.
- Adept at strategy design—using program data, benchmarks, and insights to develop long-range plans and operating models that influence business decision-making and demonstrate impact.
- Inspirational people leader and coach, committed to building diverse, inclusive teams and mentoring talent.

Salary Range: $168,300 - $223,000 USD
Employee pay will vary based on factors such as qualifications, experience, skill level, competencies and work location. We will meet minimum wage or minimum of the pay range (whichever is higher) based on city, county and state requirements.
