About the Role

The Inventory Strategy team is responsible for supporting cross-functional teams with analytics, tools and system expertise to enable top line growth. As a member of the Athleta Inventory Strategy team, the Sr Manager will have their black belt in the analytics that fuel our systems and be the main driver of data accessibility for the Inventory Management teams. They will possess a strong understanding of how all our systems, process, tools work together to drive business results and understand the power of data in decision making. The ideal candidate for this is comfortable in ambiguous environments and is naturally curious. They possess a high level of comfort within excel, are technically savvy and comfortable working within a cross-functional atmosphere up and down the ladder.

What You'll Do

Key Ownership & Responsibilities

Reporting & Analytics

  • Build, maintain, and deliver automated reporting and tools for Inventory Management.
  • Train Inventory Management and Merch teams on tools, processes, and reports.

Tools & System Expertise

  • Serve as system experts for all planning, forecasting, and reporting tools (brand and enterprise).
  • Validate new tools, system enhancements, analytics, and data outputs prior to business adoption (UAT, documentation, rollout).
  • Translate business requirements into clear technical specs; prioritize the backlog with Tech/Data and shepherd delivery.

Initiative Leads

  • Lead enterprise or cross‑functional initiatives to improve forecast accuracy, availability, and inventory productivity.
  • Act as the bridge between business teams and technical partners; develop crisp business cases, timelines, and change plans.
  • Own stakeholder communications and adoption plans; measure outcomes vs. targets.

Process & Governance

  • Standardize inventory management processes across pre‑season and in‑season cadences.
  • Define governance and best practices for analytics and decision‑making.

Team Leadership

  • Set clear goals and coach for analytic rigor, tool craftsmanship, and influence.
  • Create a culture of documentation, testing, and continuous improvement.

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree a plus.
  • 7+ years in inventory management, demand planning, supply chain analytics, or related retail/omni roles; 3+ years leading teams or large cross-functional initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of inventory planning systems and retail metrics (OTB, sell-through, WOS, turns, safety stock, lead-time).
  • Strong data storytelling and executive communication.
  • Demonstrated project leadership across scoping, requirements, implementation, and change management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of SQL and/or a scripting language for data analysis; familiarity with databases a plus.
  • Comfort with scenario modeling, pricing/markdown analytics, size optimization, and benefit realization measurement.
  • Experience with macros/VBA and specialized formatting in Excel.
  • Retail/athleisure/apparel experience and omni-channel context.
  • Expert-level Excel (advanced formulas; model/tool building).

Salary Range: $132,300 - $175,300 USD
Employee pay will vary based on factors such as qualifications, experience, skill level, competencies and work location. We will meet minimum wage or minimum of the pay range (whichever is higher) based on city, county and state requirements.
