About Banana Republic

Banana Republic is a storyteller’s brand, outfitting the modern explorer with high-quality, expertly crafted collections made to inspire and enrich life’s journeys. Founded in 1978 in San Francisco, we continue to evolve our heritage of exploration through thoughtfully designed apparel and accessories that blend timeless style with exceptional craftsmanship.

Our team is made up of passionate, curious storytellers — creators and visionaries who seek out what’s next and bring it to life through elevated design, immersive experiences, and a shared spirit of creativity and innovation.

About the Role

In this role, you will be part of a creative, fast-paced environment focused on building product that feels relevant, thoughtful, and aligned with the brand. You will support the design and development process from concept through final sample, contributing to the creation of product through sketching, research, and material exploration.
You will work closely with cross-functional partners to bring ideas to life, gaining exposure to fit, fabrication, and construction. This role requires curiosity, strong attention to detail, and a developing point of view grounded in both trend and brand identity.

  • Support design and development of styles from concept through final sample
  • Assist in developing concepts, sketches, and CADs aligned with seasonal direction
  • Contribute to mood boards, color palettes, and presentation materials to communicate design ideas
  • Assist in fabric and trim selection, developing an understanding of material, texture, and end use
  • Create and update sketches and CADs (color, proportion, detail refinements, revisions)
  • Support fittings by capturing notes and assisting with design updates and revisions
  • Partner with Production and Tech Design to support tech pack development and maintain design intent
  • Build collaborative relationships with Merchandising, Sourcing (GIS), Production, and cross-functional teams
  • Ask thoughtful questions and seek feedback to build understanding of product and process
  • Maintain organization across design boards, trackers, and seasonal development tools
  • Manage reference samples, materials, and studio organization
  • Support special projects and cross-functional collaborations as needed

Who You Are

  • 1–3 years of women’s RTW design experience (internships or assistant roles preferred)
  • Strong eye for color, proportion, and detail with an emerging design point of view
  • Basic understanding of silhouette, fit, fabrication, and garment construction
  • Interest in tailoring and structured product a plus
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator with working knowledge of CADs and technical flats
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and openness to feedback
  • Collaborative, proactive, and eager to learn within a cross-functional team
