About the role

The Payroll Operations Associate will accurately process payroll for U.S. and Canadian store and distribution center employees. Support monthly, quarterly and annual payroll activities. Research and resolve inquiries cased to Payroll team. Support other areas of Payroll Operations including corporate payroll and garnishment activities. Regular interaction occurs with Employee Services team members across the department and company. Internal customers include, but are not limited to, Store, Distribution Center, and Headquarters’ employees. Additional interaction occurs with key business partners from HR functional areas and with external vendors and government agencies.

What you'll do

  • Process U.S and Canadian store and distribution center payroll, and payroll adjustments, for all stores and distribution centers

  • Research payroll variances and process payroll adjustments, audit time records, review, approve, and generate payments by direct deposit, paper check and cash payments, research and reissue stop payments and direct deposit payment rejections

  • Process termination pay according to state, federal, and provincial guidelines

  • Execute departmental controls to ensure accuracy of data and payments; review and approve exceptions transactions identified on audit reporting

  • You will play a role in identifying and implementing process improvements for our team

  • You will interact frequently with employees at all levels of Gap Inc.

  • You will adhere to all department policies and procedures such as confidentiality, authorized approval signatures, and proper handling of electronic documents and personally identifiable information (PII).

Who you are

  • Ability to work Monday to Friday, 8-5. This role supports employees in Canada and the US

  • An understanding of Microsoft Office suite with experience using Microsoft Excel; you should have strong technical skills and you’ll work within multiple software programs simultaneously

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team environment

  • Ability to prioritize work while maintaining a high level of accuracy

  • Experience with HRMS such as PeopleSoft or Workday is helpful

  • Must have high accountability with demonstrated organizational skills; strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Must exhibit a growth mindset, high emotional intelligence and a desire to improve and learn
