About the role
Intermix is looking for a Sr. Buyer to oversee our Private Label team and join our HQ team based in New York. The Sr. Buyer is responsible for setting the overall fashion direction and strategy of the Private Label buying department to ensure that sales and profitability targets are met. You will be tasked with supporting assortment planning, driving merchandising strategies, vendor management, open-to-buy management, pricing, cost negotiations, and inventory management to achieve sales and profitability targets for your specific category. The ideal candidate has experience in a vertical multi-channel business, strong financial acumen, provoven ability to adapt seasonal trends into assortment strategies, developing and motivating a team, ability to partner with Design and Production, collaboration and entrepreneurialism.
What you'll do
Drive long term strategy and business objectives for multiple divisions reflecting department positioning within the larger company.
Proactively build department, vendor and category strategy to strengthen core businesses. Identify opportunities to expand into new categories and drive process to execute this
Develop and execute business strategies and enlist cross functional support and partnership
Review orders with the team, lead internal style outs and present strategy to Chief Merchant and cross functional partners
Partner with production team to monitor vendor negotations and strengthen long term relationships with suppliers and factories
Work cross functionally with marketing, visual, PR/events, and product training to execute strategy
Partner with Planning team on open to buy, inventory management, selling trends and markdown projections, and assortment planning to achieve financial plans
Participate in line reviews to ensure brand cohesiveness and competitive assortments
Lead merchandising initiatives across department to drive overall brand positioning and financial metrics. Provide feedback, coaching and guidance to help team accomplish objectives and/or further development.
Who you are
Bachelors degree in business or fashion related discipline, preferred, with 8+ years progressive buying experience for a vertical multi channel company
Proven track record of success and ability to drive a business with demonstrated managerial and leadership abilities
Proven ability to create product assortments to meet customer needs
Strong business and financial analysis skills, and retail math acumen
Keen fashion sense and trend forecasting ability
Excellent communication, negotiation and problem solving skills
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally when required
