About the role
As an Assistant Tech Designer, you will join the Intermix team, working with the Intermix Tech Designer to help execute Private Label merchandise through the design and production process for the Intermix Brand direct and retail channels.
The position of Asst Tech designer is a pre-manufacturing function, facilitating Sweaters and Fully Fashion Knitwear styles from design concept and first prototype to final production approval. The position supports the Sweater and Fully Fashion Knitwear Tech Designer
What you'll do
Support Sweater and Fully Fashion Knitwear Tech Designer to ensure all tech packs are updated at every stage of fitting through design and production.
Co-ordinate with Design Team to help Tech Designer initiate first prototype tech packs for Sweaters and Fully Fashion Knitwear, working closely with design to establish clear direction and consensus of design aesthetic and fit intent.
Observe, learn and emulate how to effectively communicate with vendors for daily follow-up, communicating fit intent through prototype and production phases.
Format and upload sketch/ technical diagrams, complete BOM details to all design proto and production tech packs. Maintain updated BOM for all styles with trim approvals, main label color and placement.
Prepare & organize samples for fittings. Attend all design and production fittings for sweaters and Fully Fashion knitwear, assisting in fit process.
Work in Illustrator to update diagrams for fit corrections
File factory specs in style folders and copy to master tech packs in server
Who you are
Formal education in Apparel Manufacturing with a minimum of 1-year work experience, with hands on experience in sweater and fully fashion knitwear.
Understanding of yarns, yarn counts and stitches.
Understanding of design and production fit process and timelines.
Strong organizational and communication skills with ability to multi-task in a fast paced, deadline orientated work environment.
Proficiency in all Microsoft applications
Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator and other applicable CAD software
