Gap's most iconic silhouettes, fabrics and design details inspire a debut handbag collection launching ahead of New York Fashion Week
This fall, Gap is reimagining the icons that have defined the brand for decades into a debut handbag collection. The GapBag Collection, designed by Gap Inc.’s Executive Director of Accessories Reed Krakoff, draws on Gap's most recognizable silhouettes, fabrics and details, from five-pocket denim to the classic Arch Logo hoodie, creating a distinct assortment that offers a natural extension to the essential Gap wardrobe.
The GapBag Collection marks a significant step in Gap's strategic expansion into accessories, intentionally building on the strength of its core apparel business at a moment when consumers are seeking elevated design at accessible prices. With retail prices ranging from $29.95 to $148 in the core assortment, the pieces deliver the craftsmanship of luxury accessories while introducing a fresh interpretation of Gap's classic American heritage, remaining unmistakably rooted in the brand's DNA.
"Gap has always stood for classic essentials that inspire individuality and self-expression," said Mark Breitbard, President and CEO, Gap Brand. "With the new GapBag collection, we're bringing that heritage into accessories through elevated design, great quality and accessible value. Built around iconic Gap styles, the collection extends our brand into new categories while offering customers fresh ways to engage with Gap."
The Fall 2026 GapBag Collection is the first to launch under the direction of Gap Inc.’s Executive Director of Accessories, Reed Krakoff. Krakoff, a three-time recipient of the CFDA Accessories Designer of the Year award, drew inspiration from the Gap archives, pairing his category defining design expertise with recognizable references to the brand's most loved essentials.
"Gap has been part of my life, as it has for so many people around the world, for as long as I can remember,” said Reed Krakoff. “For more than five decades, Gap's design language has shaped the way the world dresses. The GapBag Collection draws on that legacy: iconic American style, simple, never plain, built on the idea that form follows function and that luxury is the coming together of style, utility and design. The Fiive-Pocket Tote series is emblematic of that unmistakable Gap style, in its broken-in washed denim, jean-stitch detailing and signature metal shanks. It is made for everyone, every day, every occasion."
The GapBag assortment is rooted in five new silhouettes that combine form and function to reinterpret the brand’s signature design ethos. Key styles in the collection include:
- The Five-Pocket Tote: A new brand icon, the Five-Pocket Tote features classic details inspired by GapDenim — belt loops, denim hardware, and five-pocket stitching. Available in three tote sizes, ranging from small to large, as well as satchel and crossbody silhouettes in a selection of denim washes, canvas and faux suede. Prices range from $79.95–148. A limited-edition patchwork denim style will also be available for $498.
- The Hoodie Tote: Reinterpreting Gap’s classic Arch Logo Hoodie, the Hoodie Tote incorporates hoodie ribbing and a drawstring closure. Constructed from Gap’s signature fleece with neoprene lining, the Hoodie Tote is offered in a range of colorways, three sizes and a pouch. Prices range from $29.95–99.95.
- The Favorite Tote: A versatile everyday essential, The Favorite Tote is available in three sizes and comes in a selection of classic canvas colorways and playful prints. Prices range from $59.95–69.95.
- The Crescent Bag: A modern minimalist silhouette, offered in three sizes and an array of denim and faux-suede fabrications. Prices range from $69.95–99.95.
- The Shoulder Bag: A statement-making oversized carryall available in denim and faux-suede constructions. Priced at $89.95-128.
The collection will also offer a range of small accessories to complement the bag assortment, including charms, keychains, scarves, and belts, allowing customers to express their unique style through personalization.
To celebrate the launch, Gap will take over Channel Gardens at Rockefeller Center from Sept. 10 through Sept. 13 during New York Fashion Week, with an immersive pop-up featuring the Five-Pocket Tote and exclusive on-site customization. Encore members will receive early access on September 10, while cardmembers can enjoy priority entry throughout the event by reserving a spot through Encore Market, along with an exclusive gift with purchase.
