About the role

We’re looking for a Director of Production Management for Athleta to lead the responsive capabilities and in-season management of all product categories. In this role, you’ll lead a team that will work closely with partners in inventory planning, merchandising, design and product engineering to build a robust responsive strategy including fabric platforming, float management, dedicated line management and booking. Additionally, you will oversee the strategic direction for production, providing analysis and dashboards for delivery management, liability management and ad hoc in-season challenges. This role is critical to the success of creating a platform for teams to operate in the moment to respond to business needs. This role will also oversee the implementation of new systems and be the key liasons to new markets (i.e. Wholesale, Canada, franchise).

WHAT YOU’LL DO

What you'll do

  • Builds responsive strategy utilizing LRP input from merch and IP partners and anaylyzes current business trends to propose recommendations on responsive levers to implement

  • Partners with GIS and vendors on developing monthly management of product across multiple categories

  • Oversees total capacity with key suppliers within assigned categories and manages product and fabric commitments within product scope

  • Guides team to lead booking and process management with cross-functional team and work closely with Product Engineers, Design and Merchandising to ensure buy and product readiness

  • Responsible for building responsive strategy in line with business needs and partners close with GIS and suppliers on capacity needs and fabric positioning for the appropriate levers

  • Partners closely with Inventory Management to readeact to the business in conjunction with supplier strategies and commitments

  • Builds and maintains reporting to cross-functional team and senior leaders for delivery, capacity, in-season management and change management

  • Works closely with Sr. Director Production on reporting on responsive capabilities, in-season metrics and production strategies

  • Analyzes product and fabric leadtimes for opportunities for optimization and makes recommendations for responsive in partnership with Fabric R&D and GIS

  • Leads teams in change management and/or implementation of new systems

  • Partners with new businesses team on the successful rollout and addition of new markets (ex. Wholesale, Canada)

  • Attends weekly business meetings & monthly OTB

  • Leads in-season team closely on delivery delays or in-season capacity shifts

  • Oversees team that manages responsive booking triggers and Time & Action calendars as needed

  • Coach and provide development feedback for direct reports

  • Recruit, hire, retain and develop succession plan for direct reports

Who you are

WHO YOU ARE

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred

  • 12+ years experience in Production Management, plus if in a performance-based company

  • 3-5 years experience in leading Production Managemen teams

  • Demonstrates an advanced knowledge of supply chain, responsive buying tracks and knowledge of manufacturing processes

  • Passionate about leading and driving a team to build a robust responsive strategy within a business

  • Able to proactively troubleshoot and solve highly complex problems

  • Knowledge of product management calendar timelines and able to work against deadlines

  • Demonstrated proactive problem solving skills, sound decision making, and an innovative thinker

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Demonstrates superior interpersonal skills, including the ability to create trust with cross functional teams

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Strategic agility and global perspective

  • Strong negotiation skills with audiences of all levels

  • Emphasis on driving and influencing global business processes and decisions

  • High attention to detail, data accuracy and prioritization

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and react to change in a composed, professional manner

  • Sense of urgency in managing time and accomplishing tasks

  • Basic retail math skills to determine costs, margins, turn, and other related metrics

  • Cross-cultural sensitivity

  • Computer skills: Microsoft Power Point, Excel, Word, Outlook. Web based applications; Assortment and Costing Tools, PLM -Product Lifecycle Management tool.

  • Willingness to travel as needed
