A job at our warehouses and our family of retail stores – Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic, and Athleta – offers unlimited opportunities to move up, branch out, and build a career. Take a glimpse at how one associate grew her career in unexpected ways after joining as a seasonal merchandise handler for the holidays.

Franny’s Journey from Seasonal to Seasoned

When Franny Lopez walked through the doors of one of our Gap Inc. warehouses as a seasonal merchandise employee in 2016, making extra cash for the holidays was her main goal. What she didn’t realize was what the future had in store for her at Gap Inc.

"Working in our warehouses has given me so many opportunities and I’m hoping to continue to develop my skills and grow in the company."
Franny

Since joining full-time in 2017, Franny has been promoted six times and is now a Human Resource Generalist at one of our largest distribution centers in the northeast.  Our network of warehouses uses new technologies to move product quickly throughout our warehouses – reducing heavy lifting and walking for employees and enabling efficiency and productivity.

Throughout her career, Franny has been eager to learn as much as she could.  She took advantage of training and development opportunities available, remained customer curious, and committed to listening, learning, and asking as many questions as she could.  “I love to learn the why behind our ways of working, so I always asked my supervisors to walk me through certain processes to better understand how our warehouse works," she shared.  She’s been able to apply that curiosity and the business knowledge she learned early in her career to support her associates when they run into challenges.

A year after becoming a full-time merchandise handler, Franny quickly moved into the role of seasonal supervisor where she managed both stocking and inbound for the delivery center.   She then became a labor admin within the engineering team and used data and reporting to support warehouse resourcing and staffing.  It was in her role as labor admin where she developed a better understanding of how business performance influenced staffing needs and worked with systems that would prepare her for her human resource coordinator position two years later.

Today, as a Human Resource Generalist, Franny uses what she learned as a coordinator to help her think outside of the box and tackle new challenges.

"All in all, my six years at Gap Inc. has been amazing and never boring. It’s a forever changing company that offers a ton of opportunity for anyone who joins."
Franny

Franny is now looking forward to creating and developing new talent. As our supply chain footprint and capabilities grow, so do the opportunities for employees.  For those considering joining our team for the holidays, Franny shares that beyond the growth opportunities, one of the benefits she loves the most is our tuition reimbursement program which offers tuition assistance to employees pursuing their educational goals.

We’re kicking off one of our biggest seasons yet and hiring for seasonal, part-time, and full-time jobs across the country at our warehouse distribution centers and stores. Whether you’re looking for a part-time job to earn extra cash for the holidays or a job to jump start your career, our seasonal opportunities offer flexible schedules, merchandise discounts at our family of brands, and many chances to learn and grow.
