Gap Inc.

May 13, 2025

Back in 1969, our founders envisioned a company—which started as a single store selling denim and records—that could bridge the generation gap. This central purpose remains core to how we operate today as we bridge gaps to create a better world.

We’re activating around this purpose in powerful ways across our brands, bridging gaps by creating pathways for the next generation to thrive. And we’re proud to have been recently honored by longstanding community partners for our impactful contributions in our communities.

Old Navy honored by the Boys & Girls Clubs of America
In recognition of the remarkable 30-year partnership between Old Navy and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), Old Navy President & CEO Haio Barbeito proudly accepted the esteemed President’s Award at the 119th Annual BGCA National Conference in San Diego, CA. Honored for Old Navy’s demonstration of outstanding leadership in support of America’s youth, this moment pays tribute to the enduring legacy of Doris and Don Fisher, with Don having dedicated four decades to the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco and served on BGCA’s Board of Governors.

Today, Old Navy provides over $1 million in donations to BGCA annually to support programs that bridge the opportunity gap like This Way ONward, providing workforce readiness, mentorship and career pathways for youth. Old Navy and BGCA are together opening doors and sparking joy one future at a time (they reached 19,000 youth in 2024 alone!), advancing a shared vision of helping youth reach their full potential.

BroSis recognizes Mark Breitbard as Voices Honoree
Mark Breitbard, President and CEO, Gap brand, was also recently honored by The Brotherhood Sister Sol (BroSis) at its annual Voices Gala for his leadership in driving inclusion, empowering youth, and building long-term partnerships that drive systemic change. The Gap and BroSis partnership first began in 2023 with an introduction by legendary designer and Gap collaborator Dapper Dan. Since then, it has grown to meaningfully impact underrepresented communities through financial assistance for critical community programs, as well as hands-on support like a career panel with Gap leaders and an Earth Day-inspired design sprint and community-building event.

With Gap’s help, BroSis has been able to expand access to essential resources for youth, including healthy meals, academic and career support, and arts education. The 2025 Voices honor is not only a celebration of Mark’s leadership, but also a recognition of what Gap and BroSis have achieved together in uplifting the next generation of changemakers.
Gap Inc. awarded honorary doctorate by Academy of Art University
Gap Inc. was also recently recognized by Academy of Art University (AAU) in San Francisco, receiving the institution’s first-ever honorary doctorate awarded to a company. Gap Inc. has a longstanding relationship with AAU, collaborating on various initiatives that bridge the gap between education and industry. These partnerships provide students with real-world experience and exposure to the fashion industry’s inner workings. In the last two years the company offered mentorship programs and internships to many of School of Fashion’s students and graduates and has supported learning opportunities in Digital Product Creation at AAU.

This recognition is a testament to the collaborative spirit and energy that thrives in San Francisco and illustrates our commitment to supporting our home city’s creative community for those who will shape its creative future.
These exciting events are a strong testament to the power of our portfolio—how we can imagine better and then do better to create positive change at scale, both in the fashion industry and the communities we serve. This is what living our legacy looks like.
