Doris and Don Fisher built our company on the principles of innovation, integrity, community and store excellence. These principles live on today through our store teams, who are the true heart and soul of our brands. To honor this legacy, each year, the Donald G. Fisher Award is given to a General Manager in each brand who demonstrates these key principles. This is the highest honor a Store Manager can receive – like the Academy Award for the Field! We are so proud and excited to announce that the winner for this year’s Fisher Award for Athleta is Jodi Crowther!
Jodi is a true, results-driven leader. She has spent an amazing 22 years with the company (six with Athleta and 16 with Gap) and has grown immensely within our brands. She is truly committed to creating goals for and with her team and does what it takes to deliver on them. Through all the challenges of the pandemic, Jodi acts as a business owner and blends strategic, big-picture thinking with her ability to pivot and adapt, along with her passion for our mission, positive attitude, and genuine care for her team.
And this passion extends to the Athleta community and customers too. Jodi has a customer-first mindset and builds strong relationships with every customer who walks into her store. She fosters a store environment that is welcoming, helpful, and makes customers feel right at home. Her team also goes the extra mile when it comes to connecting with their communities, taking the initiative to get involved in all kinds charitable and community efforts. They afforded the Big Brothers, Big Sisters organization with two team grants, and most recently, has gotten involved with A Miracle 4 Sure, a non-profit that supports women as they transition through various stages of life. They activated a Shop for a Cause event in December and held a donation drive to benefit the organization and the community of women they support.
Jodi is a true team player. She’s inspired by her enthusiastic team, whose passion is what drives her to do her best and be her best self. Jodi mentioned, “My team points out possibilities and challenges me every day to think differently. How lucky am I to have a team that energizes me through teamwork?!” The feelings are mutual; Jodi’s team is inspired by her, as she encourages them to be their best selves and helps to lift them above challenge.
She is genuine and real, and brings passion, energy and positivity to her store every day. She embraces new initiatives and views them as a chance to learn something new, teach others something new, and run her business more efficiently and profitably. Part of her leadership style is embracing the “whys” so that she can help influence the growth mindset of others - one of the many qualities that make her such an amazing leader. She is a selfless, genuinely passionate and authentic leader and lives our brands and values every day.
