Today, on the anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, we’re proud to kick-off #GapIncVotes! Recently, our company made commitments to address systemic racism within and outside our walls. The infographic below illustrates the historical significance of this key legislation, laying the foundation toward Black Americans having full equality under the law, and the challenges that remain.
We believe that participating in our democratic process is a vital right for all Americans. Over the coming weeks our company and family of brands – in their own voices – will be highlighting this core value by providing educational tools and inspiring stories so that our employees and customers alike are able to express themselves and be counted through civic engagement. To show our commitment, we’ll be providing our store employees with up to 3-hours of paid time off to vote and having a day of no meetings for our headquarter employees.
