Old Navy

February 21, 2020

Stephen Myers is a connector in every sense of the word. At his day job at Old Navy, he’s is an allocation analyst for the Old Navy Kids + Baby team, working hard to connect the dots to make sure our customers can find the products they want when they want it. Outside of work, Stephen is busy connecting people in other ways. As a fan of art and culture, he loves exploring the arts scene in San Francisco, not only because of the diverse museums and performing arts venues+ programs that be can be found all over the city, but because it allows him to cast a wide social net and connect people whose paths might not normally cross.

Read on to learn more about Stephen and what makes him #oldnavyproud.

BEST PART ABOUT WORKING ON YOUR TEAM:
Our team fosters a sense of camaraderie and purpose. We are the last function to move product to stores, ensuring that all the planning is executed without a hitch and providing customers with a pleasant, well-stocked shopping experience.

BEST CAREER ADVICE:
Don’t overthink things. Often, we experience analysis paralysis, slicing and dicing data in a million different ways only to come to the same conclusion that you had when you started. Be more efficient with your time. Some things don’t need a deep dive and you may be overcomplicating things for your audience.

WHAT DOES BELONGING MEAN TO YOU:
Belonging at Old Navy means that our differences are our strengths. We embrace the opportunity to learn about others and what they bring to the table.

HOW DO YOU GIVE BACK?
I recently moved to San Francisco, so I’m looking to add a regular volunteering opportunity to my schedule. Thankfully, Old Navy has so many opportunities to give back to the community, so I usually jump in and participate when they’re available. Additionally, I informally connect kids from my hometown of Augusta, GA with people in my network from different industries + occupations to give them exposure to opportunities that they may not have known were available to them.

CELEBRATING RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS WEEK + BEYOND:
I love to surprise someone when they least expect it. For example, I often buy coffees or breakfast sandwiches for strangers when I go to the local coffee shop in my neighborhood, and giveaway my to-go boxes leaving a restaurant to someone nearby in need.

FAVORITE PURCHASE FROM OLD NAVY:
The Old Navy field jackets! I make sure to buy at least one every year.

WHY YOU’RE #oldnavyproud:
Outside of our focus on size inclusion and sustainability, I’m proud that we’re providing the best value to our customers daily.
