Gap Inc.

July 19, 2017

More than the clothes we create, Gap Inc. is defined by its people. Meet some of the talented people who make Gap Inc. great. #WeAreGapInc

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR GAP INC.?

I have the best job in the company! I get to bring the fun and help create real impact in our communities through our network of Community Leaders. In this role, I work closely with amazing Field Leaders, Store Operations and Gap Foundation partners to optimize field volunteerism efforts as we work together to leave our mark and create overall community impact.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

It’ll sound cliché given my role, but I’m truly inspired by the Community Leaders that have stepped up to amplify our programs. Each and every day, they’re creating real change in their communities.

STYLE PERSONALITY

Classics with a twist.

GO-TO OUTFIT

White shirt, my favorite pair of denim and a smile!

ALL-TIME FAVORITE PIECE OF CLOTHING

My collection of denim jackets. Each one holds a reminder of a moment in my career. Like the dark denim jacket I bought on the first day I was promoted to general manager — or the one I bought when I started at Old Navy that I wore today!

LAST PURCHASE

I love to shop. My most recent purchase was a new pair of sneakers to add to my growing collection.

WHAT YOU’VE LEARNED FROM CUSTOMERS

Being active in the field, I’ve learned that everyone has a story.

FAVORITE GAP INC. MOMENT

That’s tough. But I go back to the handwritten “thank you” note I received from Doris Fisher. It still sits on my desk, reminding me to always show my appreciation—and also to take the time to realize that the work I am lucky enough to do can inspire others. Her exact line that really stuck with me is, “I am so impressed with your volunteer work. I’m sure it inspires your co-workers.” In a small way I feel like I am supporting the Fisher legacy.

FIRST JOB

My first job was as a grocery store clerk. I learned that I really like working with customers and that through my actions I could change a person’s day by just sharing a smile and a kind word.

EPIPHANY MOMENT

When I was a GM for Banana Republic down in New Orleans post Hurricane Katrina. It was during that time that I realized I could personally create real change and support building stronger communities. I still reflect on that time as the inspiration behind what I’m doing today.

ALWAYS PUTS YOU IN A GOOD MOOD

A good meal and creating real connections with others. I love it when I can make someone with a frown smile back at me!

THEME SONG

“Adventure of a Lifetime” by Coldplay. “Turn your magic on, to me she’d say; Everything you want's a dream away!”

SOMETHING PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU

I love to sing and still keep dreaming of my Broadway debut.

WHAT MAKES YOU MOST EXCITED TO COME TO WORK IN THE MORNING?

I love that each day brings new possibilities to help us all live up to our potential. Every day is a new day to make a difference!

DID YOU ALWAYS KNOW YOU WANTED THIS JOB?

I didn’t follow a traditional career path, but through my efforts and drive, the career I sought found me. My advice: try to look for ways to learn something new every day and always follow your passion. We all have a role to play and it is up to each of us to seek that out.

WHY GAP INC.?

Gap Inc. is a place where we really do believe that anything is possible.

WHY SHOULD PEOPLE GET INVOLVED IN THEIR COMMUNITIES?

We all have a part to play in making the world a better place. I feel that our responsibilities as humans extend beyond the walls of our stores and into our communities.
