I am inspired by many things, but most often by people who have the humility and the confidence to change the world – one person, one opportunity, one decision at a time. People inspire me.
STYLE PERSONALITY
Casual, driven, not too serious.
GO-TO OUTFIT
I am the Gap guy... stretch denim, long-sleeve button up, and some cool slip on shoes. Simple and cool.
ALL-TIME FAVORITE PIECE OF CLOTHING
To be completely honest, a dark grey pair of Banana Republic cargo shorts. I would wear them every day if I could. Mix it up with different short sleeve button up shirts from any of our brands and the perfect pair of Patagonia flip flops. Heaven.
LAST PURCHASE
OK...not a purchase because that would be In -n- Out Burger (best fast food ever), but my children just got me an Amazon Echo, and I am both freaked out by and obsessed with Alexa. It makes my life so fun and easy, and I am quite certain it will eventually control me!
WHAT YOU’VE LEARNED FROM CUSTOMERS
I learn every day from customers. All of us should spend time in stores. When I walk out, I am so energized and inspired by our teams, who are working so hard to fully understand every customer.
FAVORITE GAP INC. MOMENT
Every time I get to be around the Fisher Family, especially Doris.
FIRST JOB
Dishwasher for an all organic, vegetarian restaurant called "Fo Fo The Bo"... Food For the Body. Way before its time in the 1970's!
EPIPHANY MOMENT
Personal: The first time I became a father, and then again when I became a grandfather (5 times now!).
Work: When I landed in Japan and realized that all the years of intuitive leadership learning was worth nothing and I had to learn a new way of thinking, a new way of leading to be successful. It was the classic moment of "what got you here will not get you there." A great deal of hard work, humility, and a lot of patient people around me enabled me to learn.

Evan, Graham, Sophia, Aniston, and Greyson – my 5 amazing grandchildren.

Marvin Gaye’s What's Going On. Sung by a man who was in crisis often in his life, it’s a plea for world peace. Very cool, inspiring and humbling at the same time and a reminder that no matter what we have going on, we need to look beyond ourselves.
SOMETHING PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU
I grew up in the rural South, on a one lane dirt road. I actually walked through the woods to get to school in East Flat Rock, North Carolina.
WHAT MAKES YOU MOST EXCITED TO COME TO WORK IN THE MORNING?
The team! All day, every day... it’s the people at Gap Inc. that drive me to be my best.
WHAT MAKES YOUR JOB UNIQUE?
I have the most awesome job on the planet. The range of issues I get to be involved with is a bit mind blowing at times, but wow! From supporting our work with P.A.C.E. and our Sustainability efforts around the world, to making sure our policies are fair and easy to understand, to helping plan out GAP's 50th anniversary – every day is a challenge and a learning experience.
