Banana Republic

June 27, 2017

Where fashion and global impact intertwine: Banana Republic is joining forces with Piece&Co, which sources socially and environmentally responsible fabrics from communities around the world, to create a capsule collection for Summer 2017.

The 20-piece limited-edition collection for men and women — online and in select stores now — features handcrafted fabrics that were sustainably produced by female-led artisan groups in Ghana and South Africa.

Created through the art of sun dyeing and batik, these one-of-a-kind textiles use a water-based dye that develops in the sunlight on natural materials such as cotton and silk. Leaves and flowers are then placed on the fabric to form beautiful patterns.

These beautiful and unique textiles, produced in partnership with Piece&Co, have empowered these artisans to create sustainable businesses and build up their communities through their craftsmanship.

Piece&Co is Banana Republic’s newest partner in the brand’s The Company We Keep offerings — a curated selection of timeless pieces from BR’s favorite labels, available online and in select stores.
