Gap Inc. announced today a $1.1 million (USD) donation of Gap brand winter clothing to help Japan relief efforts. This donation follows a cash contribution of $200,000 from Gap Foundation, and ongoing dollar for dollar matching of employee donations.
John Ermatinger, President Asia Pacific Region for Gap Inc. said, “Our hearts go out to all the people who lost family and friends in the earthquake and tsunami. And there are so many who lost all their possessions and are now facing the challenges of winter weather and lack of power in many locations. We have jackets and winter clothing for the entire family and we are working with local relief partners to deliver kids, baby and adult clothing to those who need it most."
In addition, customers can make a donation to Global Giving’s Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund on Gap Inc.’s brand websites.
Update: Gap Inc. has been working hard to ensure that winter clothes are delivered to those in Japan who need it most. Today we are pleased to share that clothing has reached tens of thousands of recipients in Miyagi, Fukushima and Iwate.
