About the Role

The Office of AI at Gap Inc. is seeking a Senior Strategy Manager - AI & Store Innovation to pioneer how emerging technologies transform our physical retail experience. This role will explore and scale AI-powered innovations that enhance store operations, empower associates, and reimagine how customers engage with our brands—Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic, and Athleta.

You’ll focus on bringing ideas from zero to one, building proofs of concept, and shaping scalable solutions that bridge the physical and digital worlds. While retail experience is a plus, the ideal candidate brings deep technical fluency, comfort with enterprise systems, and a proven track record of turning frontier technologies into measurable business impact.

What You'll Do

  • Lead AI innovation for stores, identifying opportunities where technologies like computer vision, GenAI, IoT, and edge AI can enhance customer and associate experiences.
  • Design and drive pilot programs that validate emerging use cases—from intelligent fitting rooms to predictive inventory tools—and guide them from concept through scale.
  • Partner cross-functionally with store operations, product, data, and technology teams to align innovation priorities with business and operational goals.
  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, balancing feasibility, scalability, and enterprise integration.
  • Develop business cases and frameworks to communicate the value of in-store AI innovation to executive and brand leadership.
  • Establish success metrics and ensure learnings from pilots inform enterprise adoption roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with the AI Platform and Consumer Experiences teams to ensure consistent standards and leverage shared tools and models.

Who You Are

  • 7–12 years of experience in technology innovation, product strategy, or enterprise digital transformation.
  • Strong understanding of modern AI capabilities (GenAI, computer vision, NLP, automation) and how they can be applied to operational or customer-facing contexts.
  • Proven ability to lead 0→1 innovation programs — from concept development to pilot execution to enterprise integration.
  • Skilled in cross-functional collaboration, balancing business strategy and technical feasibility.
  • Excellent communicator able to bridge technical detail and business value.
  • Comfortable in ambiguous environments, with a bias toward experimentation and learning.
  • Passionate about human-centered technology and the future of connected retail experiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in enterprise innovation labs, AI product strategy, or emerging technology deployment.
  • Familiarity with store operations, associate enablement tools, or in-store technology ecosystems.
  • Knowledge of Agile practices and leading multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong analytical, storytelling, and executive presentation skills.

Benefits at Gap Inc.

  • Merchandise discount for our brands: 50% off regular-priced merchandise at Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic and Athleta, and 30% off at Outlet for all employees.
  • One of the most competitive Paid Time Off plans in the industry.*
  • Employees can take up to five “on the clock” hours each month to volunteer at a charity of their choice.*
  • Extensive 401(k) plan with company matching for contributions up to four percent of an employee’s base pay.*
