About the Role

In this role, you will lead the global Software Asset Management (SAM) function, overseeing a managed service provider responsible for executing day-to-day operations. You will drive enterprise-wide software license compliance, coordinate vendor audits, and influence cost optimization strategies across a diverse portfolio of on-premise and SaaS applications. Reporting to senior leadership, you will ensure visibility into compliance posture, risk exposure, and cost-saving opportunities while maintaining alignment with enterprise policies and vendor agreements.

What You'll Do

  • Own and govern the enterprise-wide Software Asset Management program with a focus on license compliance and audit readiness.
  • Provide oversight and direction to a managed service provider delivering core SAM operations.
  • Lead and coordinate responses to software vendor audits, partnering with legal, procurement, and finance teams.
  • Develop and maintain software compliance policies and governance frameworks aligned with contractual obligations and industry best practices.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report SAM KPIs, including compliance metrics, cost savings opportunities, and audit outcomes, to senior and executive stakeholders.
  • Leverage Flexera and ServiceNow platforms to ensure accurate visibility into the software estate and license entitlements.
  • Identify risks, inefficiencies, and optimization opportunities (e.g., unused licenses, overlapping software solutions), and collaborate with procurement and budget owners to realize cost avoidance.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor across IT, Finance, Procurement, and Legal on software asset lifecycle governance and licensing implications.

Who You Are

  • 5–10 years of experience in enterprise-level Software Asset Management, with demonstrated leadership in license compliance, audit coordination, and vendor engagement.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise software licensing models, including perpetual, subscription-based, and user/device-based licensing.
  • Hands-on experience with Flexera (FlexNet Manager Suite) for managing software assets, license entitlements, and optimization initiatives.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow SAM or similar platforms for asset tracking, normalization, and integration with CMDB or procurement systems.
  • Proven success coordinating or leading software vendor audits and mitigating audit risk in large, complex environments.
  • Experience overseeing managed service providers or third-party vendors delivering SAM operations and services.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills, with the ability to present KPIs and risk summaries to senior leadership.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Finance, Procurement, and IT to influence licensing decisions and governance.
