About the Role

The Project Manager, Store Compliance Operations drives value for Gap Inc. by ensuring operational excellence, flawless field execution, and strong adherence to policies and standards across all North America stores. This role partners across brands, functions, and channels to develop, implement, and evolve the tools, processes, and accountability mechanisms that support inventory integrity, compliance audits, and corporate resilience planning.

Combining strong analytical acumen with field-focused advocacy, the PM leverages data, feedback, and cross-functional expertise to evaluate the effectiveness of compliance initiatives, identify opportunities for improvement, and drive high-impact change. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, strategic, curious, and comfortable navigating complexity — ensuring that compliance solutions are both practical and scalable.

What You'll Do

Compliance Operations & Process Leadership

  • Lead execution and continuous improvement of Self-Scan Inventory processes, ensuring field teams have clear instructions, tools, and support.
  • Develop, manage, and evolve Store Compliance Audit (SCA) strategies, ensuring consistency of execution, clarity of communication, and operational readiness.
  • Own Corporate Resilience Planning (BCP) deliverables for North America stores, partnering with key stakeholders to maintain readiness and support crisis response.
  • Maintain, update, and govern Policies & Procedures across all brands; ensure clear and timely communication of changes to stores and HQ partners.

Field Advocacy, Feedback & Continuous Improvement

  • Establish efficient feedback loops with Store Operations, Field Leaders, and HQ partners; translate insights into actionable improvements.
  • Conduct needs assessments and competitive analyses to support development of best-inclass compliance processes and resources.
  • Represent stores in cross-functional forums, ensuring compliance programs are operationally feasible, customer-centric, and support field success.

Project Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Build project scopes, timelines, and deliverables for compliance initiatives, ensuring accountability and visibility across all partners.
  • Collaborate with partner teams—including Store Operations, Inventory Control, Asset Protection, Internal Audit, HR, Communications, and Sourcing—to align on requirements and ensure successful execution in stores.
  • Manage multiple concurrent initiatives, balancing strategic priorities, operational needs, and store impact.

Communication & Change Management

  • Develop and deliver field-facing communication, training, and resources that support execution of compliance programs.
  • Influence teams to adopt process changes through clear messaging, thoughtful implementation planning, and strong cross-functional partnership.
  • Provide regular updates to leadership on project progress, risks, and results.

Competencies

  • Create with Curiosity: Applies continuous learning and data-driven insights to evolve compliance processes. Demonstrates innovative thinking, offering ideas to simplify, improve, and scale operational practices.
  • Center on the Customer & Field: Advocates for stores, ensuring compliance processes elevate both associate and customer experiences. Identifies operational opportunities and proposes solutions that support store performance and product availability.

Who You Are

  • 3+ years’ experience in Store Operations, Store Leadership, or related retail functions preferred.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Skilled collaborator with experience partnering across HQ and field teams.
