About the Role

The Director of Promotional Planning + Execution (North America) leads Old Navy’s end-to-end promotional strategy and execution, driving compelling customer-facing offers that shape the brand’s commercial narrative across channels. This high-impact, fast-paced role owns ~25% of total sales and directly influences Old Navy’s traffic, conversion, and customer engagement outcomes. Reporting to the VP, Omni Strategy & Experience, this leader is the face of the Commercial Plan across the organization and a key contributor to omni-channel growth.

What You'll Do

STRATEGIC SCOPE & LEADERSHIP

  • Drives the overarching promotional calendar strategy in alignment with brand financial goals, customer behavior, and broader commerce and experience objectives.
  • Owns the development and delivery of promotional offerings across Primary and Secondary marketed offers, Item of the Week, Loyalty, Credit Card Incentives, and Bounce Back/Frequency driving programs.
  • Leads high-level decision-making and scenario planning for pre-, in-, and post-season promotions, including adjustments post-Investment Review.
  • Represents Promotional Planning in senior forums and cross-functional leadership discussions; synthesizes complex data into compelling narratives for executive stakeholders.
  • Acts as a key connector across functional domains including Online Experience, Stores, Merchandising, Marketing, Inventory, Finance, and Operations.

EXECUTION & OMNICHANNEL IMPACT

  • Leads execution strategy for the Commercial Plan, ensuring full alignment between customer promise and operational delivery across all channels.
  • Defines and communicates “value flag” strategy for digital and physical customer experiences.
  • Oversees day-to-day tactical execution across stores and site experience (Store Sets, Site Tacticals, Promo Walk Thrus), ensuring strong promotional visibility and merchandising.
  • Proactively evaluates in-season performance, making real-time updates to optimize business impact.
  • Partners with Content Marketing and Online Merch teams to ensure value messaging consistency across touchpoints. PEOPLE

  • Implements structured post-mortem processes to extract learnings from major events and build into future planning.
  • Leverages data insights and customer trends to optimize future campaigns and develop innovative value propositions.
  • Champions a test-and-learn mindset and institutional knowledge-sharing across the team.
  • Proactively identifies operational efficiencies and process enhancements.
  • Maintains awareness of competitive landscape and industry trends, integrating best practices into planning.

Who You Are

  • 7–10 years of experience in promotional planning, preferably in retail or consumer goods.
  • Deep financial acumen and ability to connect the dots across data, storytelling, and customer strategy.
  • Strong experience in campaign development, cross-functional influence, and omnichannel execution.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and deliver results in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Inspirational leader with demonstrated people development capabilities.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and strategic thinking skills. BA/BS required; MBA or advanced degree a plus. A sense of humor and a passion for storytelling.

Salary Range: $168,300 - $223,000 USD
Employee pay will vary based on factors such as qualifications, experience, skill level, competencies and work location. We will meet minimum wage or minimum of the pay range (whichever is higher) based on city, county and state requirements.
