Forget what you know about old-school industry rules. When you work at Old Navy, you’re choosing a different path. From day one, we’ve been on a mission to democratize fashion and make shopping fun again. Our teams make style accessible to everyone, creating high-quality, must-have fashion essentials for the whole family, with love, season after season.

We opened our first store in 1994 in San Francisco and have been on a roll ever since. We cultivate a community of playful personalities that thrive in a fast-paced environment where our employees can be their most authentic selves. Here, we’re family.

About the Role

In this role, you’ll join an energizing, inclusive, and creative team that designs women’s soft accessories with a focus on socks and cold weather products such as hats, scarves, and gloves. You’ll thrive in an environment that values adaptability, optimism, and curiosity—where ideas evolve quickly, and collaboration drives innovation. Your goal is to partner with cross-functional teammates to deliver high-quality, on-trend accessories that feel fresh, functional, and aligned with the Old Navy brand. You’ll contribute to the conceptual development of the product line and help ensure each design reflects both customer insights and seasonal market trends.

What You'll Do

  • Research global markets to identify new seasonal trends, silhouettes, fabrics, and techniques—especially in cold weather accessories—and translate insights into compelling product ideas.
  • Develop and present sketches and concepts that align with the brand’s design vision while staying open and adaptable to feedback and changing business needs.
  • Build and maintain strong cross-functional partnerships with Merchandising, Production, Technical Design, Gap Inc. Sourcing (GIS), Visual Merchandising, and Marketing to bring concepts to life seamlessly from design to store and site.
  • Partner with Product Development and vendors to create accurate tech packs in the PLM system, clearly communicating design intent, materials, fit, and construction details.
  • Support fit sessions and proactively solve design or construction challenges with a positive, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Manage sketch updates, callouts, and specifications (including materials, trims, washes, and color) in digital systems and maintain version accuracy.
  • Participate in diverse, fast-paced projects and assignments with enthusiasm, creativity, and adaptability.
  • Manage samples and materials, ensuring accurate organization for the Accessories Design team.

Who You Are

  • Optimistic and adaptable, thriving in a fast-paced, evolving environment with multiple overlapping development calendars.
  • Possess a strong aesthetic sense and the ability to interpret fashion and lifestyle trends through the lens of the Old Navy customer and brand DNA.
  • Passionate about accessories design, with a particular interest in socks and cold weather items.
  • Skilled in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, PLM systems, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledgeable in silhouette, fit, fabrication, construction, color, and trim details with an ability to apply garment construction principles to the design process.
  • A clear and confident communicator who simplifies complex ideas.
  • A natural problem-solver who remains positive and curious when faced with challenges.
  • Strong eye for print and pattern.
  • Experience with 3D product creation is a plus.
