About the role

A role of an Industrial Engineer in a Gap Inc. distribution or fulfillment center will have you successfully maximizing productivity, quality and service throughout the Distribution Center (DC) by utilizing engineering techniques in work layout, work measurement, time study analysis, and methods development. In this role, you’ll be responsible for analyzing methods and procedures to ascertain the most efficient way to perform all distribution fulfillment warehouse tasks and act as project lead / manager on implementation of special project work. This includes developing and managing project budgets, and the control of operating and capital expenses. You’ll seek out and research new technology advances and spearhead efforts to incorporate new concepts into existing systems with emphasis on productivity improvements that positively impact our business.

What you'll do

  • Display teamwork abilities and positive working relationships with all DC employees and internal and external customers.
  • Ability to communicate, direct and delegate complex instructions on special projects to staff and demonstrate proven written and verbal communication skills in the execution of daily correspondence and methods documentation, to supervisors, peers and direct reports throughout the business.
  • Assist DC Management on special projects by conducting feasibility studies and use of conventional time study techniques.
  • Establish production standards for various jobs in a DC environment. AutoCAD experience required.
  • Coordinate priority list with operations and conduct approval and training meetings with operation’s personnel.
  • Experience with design and management of facility construction projects.
  • Knowledge of company requirements in ensuring compliance with applicable local, state and federal building codes requirements as well as a thorough understanding of company direction on environmental concerns.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Knowledge of distribution operating systems.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 1-3 years Engineering experience preferred.
