About the role

This role is responsible for leading the Infrastructure team for Gap Tech which includes: Compute & Storage; Database; Data Integration & Batch Platform; Metrics, Monitoring, Logging & Cloud Engineering Services; Application Hosting, Platform as a Service, Site Reliability, and API. This leader will work closely with and manage engineering staff both in SF and Hyderabad Development Center (HDC) to support the goals and objectives of the business. The role must be capable of working in a matrixed organization and coordinating the delivery of multiple outcomes concurrently and will be hands-on in terms of design, architecture and development and will lead the team from the front in any critical situation.

This leader must be collaborative, transformative (not afraid to speak and challenge the status quo) and must understand how their products impact the apps dev product team that they support and partner with. This leader must also be capable in building relationships with TechOps peers and other engineering leadership to socialize and enable the product and services that they provide.

As a people leader first and a delivery manager second, this leader must build, inspire and lead the technical teams. This individual will have spent a majority of their career leading and managing efforts to improve system availability and consistency, and increased operations efficiency in partnership with other GapTech teams. This role will drive adherence to sprint and/or project milestones, including implementing appropriate corrective actions when progress deviates from plan.

What you'll do

  • Identifies, recommends and drives multi-year technology development strategies to address business needs and unlocks business capabilities
  • Translates the company/area strategic vision into actionable goals and activities for teams
  • Drives and builds continual improvements into goals and yearly plans
  • Actively engages with our product engineering teams in GapTech to help land strategic efforts including Cloud migration and modernization
  • Manage matrixed teams to deliver against team goals and objectives; define an operating model that works for teams in different locations
  • Effectively innovate and operate outside the comfort zone of established methods and procedures
  • Hire, mentor, coach and manage high performing teams based out of SF and India

Who you are

  • 12+ years of leadership experience in managing cross-functional teams and direct management of teams with at least 8+ years of experience in an Engineering Leadership role building and managing high performing teams
  • Proven experience in one or more Infrastructure automation technologies (automating network, host provisioning, and voice services)
  • 2 yrs + experience with a large scale on-prem data center to cloud migration and operations (Azure experience is a plus). Demonstrated progressive leadership responsibilities in a large-scale Unix/Oracle 24x7 international production environment. 5 years + experience with CI/CD tools, pipeline development and operations. Experience with DevOps & ITIL approach in running a superior service operation & delivery function.
  • Experience with modern omnichannel application architecture & development practices such as containers & microservices, app gateways & APIs, data platform and streaming, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks or projects to align with the strategic objectives and with business goals; ability to assign recurring tasks and to utilize metrics to measure effectiveness.
  • Thorough understanding of operational support processes, excellent business acumen and ability to direct team in dissecting and diagnosing complex problems; effectively managing relationships with a broad and diverse group of business partners; comfortably interacts and presents ideas and concepts to senior management
  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology
