About the Role
The Sr. Energy Engineer will focus on reducing energy consumption, improving energy efficiency, and promoting sustainability throughout the entire supply chain. Responsibilities include analyzing energy use at supply chain, implementing energy-saving technologies, developing renewable energy solutions, ensuring compliance with energy regulations, and collaborating with suppliers to meet sustainability goals and reduce carbon footprints. This role is critical to Gap Inc.’s Scope 3 emissions within Purchased Goods & Services (across Tiers) in order to achieve Gap Inc.’s 2030 emissions reduction goals.
What You'll Do
1. Energy Assessment & Data Analysis
- Conduct detailed energy audits at supplier facilities to assess energy usage and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Review energy consumption data from systems like building automation systems and utility bills to identify savings opportunities.
- Understand and surface supplier pain points across technology, implementation, and funding that are delaying decarbonization efforts.
2. Project Development & Implementation
- Develop and implement energy efficiency projects, including retrofits and process optimization.
- Support the design and deployment of renewable energy systems, such as rooftop solar installations, VPPA/DPPA, and RECs.
- Collaborate with suppliers to develop and track coal phase-out plans, ensuring alignment with Gap Inc’s environmental compliance and targets.
3. Technical Support & Capacity Building
- Provide technical guidance and training to suppliers on energy management best practices.
4. Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with internal teams (e.g., Vendor Compliance, Environmental Sustainability, Sourcing) and external stakeholders (e.g., consultants, industrial organizations).
5. Regulatory & Market Intelligence
- Stay informed on local energy regulations, incentives, and technologies relevant to industrial energy use in Vietnam and other sourcing countries.
- Stay updated on new technologies and innovations that could support decarbonization in the textile and apparel industries.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree in Energy Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in industrial energy systems, preferably in textiles or manufacturing.
- Familiarity with Vietnam’s energy landscape, including grid dynamics, solar regulations, and energy pricing.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in energy modeling tools and Excel.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Vietnamese.
- Certification in energy management (e.g., CEM, ISO 50001) is a plus.
