With over 16 million cases of infection and more than 180,000 deaths daily, India now has the world's fastest pace of infection spread and the highest daily increase in COVID-19 cases. In response to this recent healthcare crisis, Gap Foundation is partnering with CARE and Airlink to enhance local capacity to deliver critically needed services. Gap Foundation is contributing $100,000 to CARE and $50,000 to Airlink to support their COVID-19 responses in India.

CARE is working in partnership with state governments to immediately set up COVID-19 care centers to protect seriously ill people while also addressing vaccine hesitancy and helping ensure people get vaccinated, particularly in remote communities.  Gap Foundation’s contribution will support the development of four to five COVID-19 care centers in highly populated areas with high rates of infections.

Airlink is working with aviation and logistics partners to transport relief workers and emergency supplies for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) responding to rapid-onset disasters and other humanitarian crises around the globe. Shipments include oxygen concentrators, liquid oxygen, face shields, gowns, testing materials, vaccination supplies, mattresses and bed frames, and other items prioritized by critical agencies. Gap Foundation’s contribution will support the delivery of 80 -100 tons of critical need supplies to local communities.

Gap Inc. employees who wish to support with India's relief efforts can make a tax-deductible contribution to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund via the United Nations Foundation through bewhatspossible.com. Gap Inc. will match donations to any registered nonprofit from eligible employees starting at $10.
