About the Role

What You'll Do

  • Work with Head of Concept to set overall direction of the conceptual development of the Women's product line for Gap Specialty.
  • Conduct research for trend direction by utilizing and analyzing fashion sites/blogs, runway shows, street reports from trend-forward cities, domestic and abroad, trend forecasting companies, fashion publications, trade shows
  • Identify the definition of big idea/volume driving trends that will positively impact the bottom line and enhance design integrity for the Gap and its cross-functional partners.
  • Seek out global trends and under-the-radar cultural influences.
  • Investigate category-specific research for detailed analysis on key categories (silhouette, fabric, color, & fit analysis in addition to competitor comparison) when needed.
  • Track seasonal runway reports, analyze trends, and analyze how what's happening in ready-to-wear will impact the brand/ your categories.
  • Utilize frequent communication with editorial and retail contacts to determine emerging, trend-forward developments in the fashion business
  • Work cross-functionally to establish & drive seasonal color palette.
  • Work with team to execute styling for adoption meetings/key looks

Who You Are

  • Minimum of 10 years design experience, preferably in Women's
  • Exceptional skills in overall seasonal direction setting, including Mood, Color, Trend Big Ideas, Key Items as well as Print & Graphic direction.
  • Experience in analytical brand positioning work which includes design filters and customer profiling.
  • Product obsessed with a strong aesthetic intelligence with a passion for style and fashion that illustrates a balanced understanding of Gap brand.
  • Strong leadership experience; as process and milestone delivery with wider teams and cross functional partners.
  • Highly creative and has a strong business growth mindset.
  • Ability to set overall creative tone and lead creative design process.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to beautifully lay out imagery.
