About the Role

As part of reshaping the future of Finance, Gap Inc. is embarking on a digital and process transformation within the Finance organization. To ensure optimal execution of all initiatives we are seeking a Sr. Director Project Management Office (PMO) lead. This role is a key execution role, which will support the leadership of the Finance Transformation (FT) Team to drive the vision, structure and governance of our finance transformation, and drive cross-functional program management in impacted up and downstream processes. You will be a key member of the Finance Transformation team and report directly to the Head of Finance Transformation.
The successful leader of this role has a transformation delivery background. This leader is a strong change leader who is maniacally organized and can navigate a complex organization. This leader is adept at navigating tough discussions with leaders, managing through ambiguity, and holding stakeholders accountable.

What You'll Do

  • Lead a large-scale transformation PMO effort, including internal direct team members. This effort includes ways of working, operating model (people, process, and tools), implementation of enterprise wide financial planning system and productivity initiatives.
  • Develop and continuously improve the transformation governance model, including forums, stakeholders, scope, cadence, and RACI.
  • Partner with change management team members to ensure cohesive transformation plans including change deliverables.
  • Engage/partner with FT initiative leaders as a strategic thought partner to develop and devise scope, structure, and approach to delivering value with a new or existing initiative.
  • Design and deliver best-in-class and simple program management approaches to help stakeholders manage program deliverables, interdependencies, risks, and issues.
  • Anticipate roadblocks and proactively address issues before they impact business results. Ensure relevant programs/projects are on track, including budget, timeline, and scope.
  • Design the future program management team structure, partnering with enterprise wide PMO support for optimal use of skills and resources.
  • Prepare executive level presentations, supporting governance structure communication points and overall communication strategy.

  • +10 years of professional experience; balance of experience in strategy/management consulting, finance transformation, retail/consumer products or similar strategic role preferred
  • Experience with driving change in a complex program management capacity; includes expertise in devising program management governance and RACI, devising and rolling out governance toolsets, and defining and implementing program management principles with rigor across a complex program
  • Strong relationship-building skills and experience working closely with senior executives and cross-functional partners to influence strategic agendas and operationalize key strategic initiatives
  • Aptitude and willingness to “get one’s hands dirty” to deeply understand and drive program deliverables, write executive presentations and manage projects directly
  • Proven and motivational leader with excellent managerial skills and a keen interest in developing team members
  • Experience managing third parties who may provide augmentation for program management
  • Ability to work west coast hours
