The Sourcing and Global PO product line is searching for a Director, Software Engineering. This is a group of product teams that are the innovation engine of Global Sourcing at Gap Inc. The teams create tools that are used for end-to-end Supply Chain management, Global Purchase Order management, Product Costing, and Vendor Profile. These tools are either custom in-house developed or SaaS solutions that require complex enterprise integration. The team members are of the DevOps first mindset, with skillsets that include front-end, back-end services, and reporting. A director in this space will have a broad influence in the innovation of Global Sourcing along with a unique opportunity to build a strong team and strategic partnerships with our SaaS vendors.

In this role, you will direct the product team’s software development, delivery, and support efforts of highly scalable and high-performing technology solutions in an Agile work environment and produce and deliver code and/or test cases using Agile practices. You will provide leadership and direction to technical managers, architects, quality assurance engineers, developers, SaaS vendors, and other technologists in resolving critical production issues to help simplify and improve business processes through the latest in technology and automation. You are a technical expert and will lead through the requirements gathering, design, development, deployment, and support phases of a product. You will establish operational objectives and assignments for managers across related departments or functional units.

This role is based out of the San Francisco office. Currently, job duties are being performed remotely. However, the Company may in the future require you/this role to be in the office on a full-time or part-time basis. What You'll Do

  • Leads and influences the vision of the product by contributing to software design and architecture that result in high-performing technology.
  • Develop and enhance software to solve complex business problems where analysis of situations requires an in-depth knowledge of the company by keeping customer experience at the forefront.
  • Lead and model a DevOps mindset by applying automation, continuous integration, and continuous delivery in everything we do.
  • Foster innovation acting as a change agent to support business growth, reduce operational costs and improve service levels by applying best practices and learning from emerging technologies.
  • Provide engineering leadership, collaborating, and influencing at senior levels.
  • Thought leader, contributing to the development of methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people in projects and assignments of diverse scope.
  • Partner with SaaS vendor to influence the vision of the product by contributing to software design and architecture that result in high-performing technology
  • Lead and facilitate teams creating highly collaborative environment.

Who You Are

  • Experience with leading teams including establishing organizational goals aligned with product vision to achieve business success.
  • Strong communication skills with proven ability to guide senior levels and cross-functional teams both internal and external.
  • Possesses deep technical knowledge, 8+ years of software development experience (large scale applications, continuous integration/delivery practices).
  • Expert knowledge of complex software languages and platforms such as Java, Oracle, Azure, etc., and emerging languages and trends.
  • Strategic thought leader and problem solver that is able to lead through others developing creative solutions.
  • Experience with implementation, enhancements, and ongoing support of SaaS vendor solution. Experience with Bamboo Rose preferred.
