The Gap Inc Product Management organization will do this through the relentless pursuit of great software experiences while considering operating advantage and positive community impact. As an API Platform Product Manager, you will work with your product management counterparts and leaders to define new capabilities and help to scope the customer experience.  In this role, you will manage the design, development, and ongoing iteration of Gap’s API Management solution, as well as define the strategy, roadmap, and prioritization of APIs across Gap.

You will collaborate with dependent product teams to ensure that the end-to-end implementation journey is thorough and thoughtful. You will write robust requirements, prioritize the backlog, and work closely with the engineering teams to deliver and test quality software.

The role requires a strong product mindset; combination of business savvy, customer centricity and technical knowledge. We are looking for product managers that are passionate about the customer’s journey, while strive to understand the complexities of system integrations and operational impacts.

What You'll Do

  • Manages roadmaps for multiple APIs and management features; Articulates user needs, pain points, user impact, and desired outcomes for features
  • Responsible for maintaining and prioritizing a backlog of API work items for multiple apps or services
  • Manages key stakeholder engagement strategy on all API Management and development initiatives
  • Work with Engineering counterparts to build clean and easy-to-use APIs
  • Keeps up to date with the latest API development features, technologies, and trends.
  • Builds relationships with key business partners and other brand stakeholders; Articulates product needs clearly and succinctly to different audiences and cross functional partners
  • Identifies dependencies with other strategic initiatives; Influences other product managers to incorporate dependent features into roadmaps
  • Develops in-depth knowledge of industry trends and standards to introduce continual process, tool and methodology improvements.
  • Identifies, measures, and interprets results to validate product strategy; Provide research, analysis, and support for identifying, evaluating, and resolving strategic opportunities.

Who You Are

  • 3-6 years work experience required, with experience in Retail or Customer-related industries preferred
  • Previous experience working on API Platform/Management, API Marketplace/Catalog, or API Product Management preferred
  • Platform product development experience; experience with developer-focused platforms, technologies, and tools preferred
  • Knowledge of common authorization and authentication patterns and protocols
  • Experience working closely with technical team members and/or customers preferred
  • Experience on projects with complex scope and with system and process implementations strongly desired, and experience developing and working with matrix organizations desired
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills; detail-oriented and strong multi-tasking ability
  • Strong oral, written, and formal presentation skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas in simple ways to all levels of the organization; Ability to influence stakeholders and decision makers to achieve a desired outcome
  • Strong strategic thinking with ability to perform analysis at a low level of detail, including experience with strategic and quantitative analysis – ability to gather and interpret data
  • Execution and results focused, with emphasis on on-time delivery, ability to structure complex work streams and work independently and with teams
  • BA/BS with emphasis on quantitative skills such as in economics, business, mathematics, engineering
