About the role

Athleta is searching for a qualified candidate to lead the Athleta Extended Sizing Initiative. In this role you will be training the technical design teams, creating standards, landing dress form requirements and conducting model searches. You will be attending all fittings with the technical team to ensure fit consistency across categories and alignment with the core product sizing. You will work with cross functional partners to innovate for the plus customer, to understand and solve for complexities specific to this customer. This role is critical to the success of the department and the continued growth for the Brand.

What you'll do

  • Attend all Inclusive size fittings and provide guidance on fit and construction to maintain consistency across categories.

  • Maintain pipeline deliverables, and timely approvals of product

  • Work cross functionally to innovate and problem solve for sizes 16-26

  • Work closely with Tech Design Director to establish methodology of understanding how to develop spec’s for inclusive sizing and best methods on using blocks

  • Work with the Athleta vendor base to educate standards and garment expectations to achieve the best product possible.

  • Ability to Understand, Teach, and Use Consistent Fit Method Techniques based on Industry Standards of fitting on Dress Forms and Models.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of apparel fit standards and industry best practices.

  • Building of core block library with technical team and teaching best methods to factories to understand how to utilize blocks while creating stylized patterns

  • Full understanding of body growth from size 2-26

Who you are

  • BA or equivalent experience in the apparel industry

  • 10+ years experience in Technical Design/Product Development

  • Fully knowledgeable and experience in working the extended sizes

  • Expert in patternmaking, construction and fit for multiple product categories

  • Excellent collaboration and influencing skills, ability to train and bring teams along

  • Knowledge of product creation calendar timelines and able to work against deadlines

  • Experience in a performance brand a plus

  • Has traveled to and worked with manufacturers across Asia, Americas and Europe

  • 2D patternmaking, preferably on Optitex system

  • 3D experience a Plus (Optitex, Brozewear, CLO)
