Gap Inc.

September 2, 2020

The health and safety of our employees, customers and communities is our top priority. We take pride in knowing that our customers look to Gap Inc.’s family of brands as a trusted place for the styles they know and love and, when it comes to visiting our stores, they have a safe place to shop. Today, we’re teaming up with the California Retailers Association and Los Angeles Board of Supervisors Chairwoman, Kathryn Barger in the Safe Shopping for ALL initiative to help get the news out about safe shopping.

Especially important ahead of the busy Labor Day weekend and start of the 2020 holiday season, this new initiative encourages consumers to wear a face mask and practice social distancing to engage retailers, employees and consumers in the fight against the spread of COVID-19 and any possible future waves of infection.

We’re committed to evolving our health and safety practices and keeping our teams, customers and communities at the core of every decision we make. As COVID-19 cases continue to spike in the U.S., we are requiring our customers to wear face masks in all of our stores throughout North America, in addition to our employees. All of our brands have also produced millions of stylish, reusable fabric masks at affordable prices to help outfit families across the country.

“When we began to re-open out stores in May, we welcomed back customers with best-in-class safe shopping standards, which we created with industry partners and health experts,” said Mark Breitbard, Head of Gap Inc. Specialty Brands, Franchise and Asia Pacific. “Today we’re proud to promote the Safe Shopping for ALL, a campaign that reinforces these important measures retail has taken to protect consumers, employees and the economy and asks that everyone do their part to help keep our communities healthy.”

The Safe Shopping for ALL initiative promotes safety and will help keep retail open, while also continuing to promote contactless shopping through online ordering, delivery and curbside pick-up. Beyond Gap Inc., Kohls, Target, Lowes, Best Buy, Walgreens, National Retail Federation and others have joined in too.

Beginning on 9/2, California Gap Inc. brand stores will feature the campaign's logo on store signage to let our customers know that we’re all in this together and that we support this important campaign in safe shopping for all.

Look for our Safe Shopping California Bear throughout the state and join the #safeshoppingforALL social campaign. To learn more about the Safe Shopping for All campaign and to make the Safe Shopping Promise visit https://calretailers.com/safe-shopping-for-all/
