Improving Factory Conditions

Walk into any Gap, Banana Republic or Old Navy store, and you'll find clothing that is stylish and well made. Look closer and you'll notice our products are made in garment factories around the world – from Sri Lanka to Lesotho, the United States to El Salvador.

We believe that all individuals who work in garment factories deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, and are entitled to safe and fair working conditions. Our team of more than 90 full-time employees is dedicated to improving conditions in the factories that make our clothes, and the lives of garment workers.

Our Approach

Because we don't own the factories where our clothes are made, we regularly inspect them to ensure that working conditions meet our standards. But our efforts don't stop there. We recognize that we have a responsibility to work in partnership with factories, as well as other apparel companies and concerned organizations, to improve working conditions across the industry. Together, we are striving to make garment factories around the world safe and fair places to work.
