Describe a typical day during your internship.
As a summer intern in the supply chain finance group, I started my days by checking my email, reading business updates on our employee intranet, GapWeb, and attending team meetings to see what’s on the agenda. I supported my team and other functions on a daily basis by updating our website, updating cost variance analysis, checking numbers for accuracy and consolidating balance sheet statements. I also spent a considerable amount of time working on the internship group project.

What do you like about Gap Inc.?
What I like the most is that Gap Inc. offers a very friendly corporate culture with an open-door policy. Everyone on my team treated me as a member of their family. My team made me feel as if I were part of the group, and not just an intern.

What do you like about the Bay Area?
I love San Francisco — the city is very beautiful. My roommates and I got a chance to explore the entire Bay Area, and it’s a really fun place for young people. I like how there is something to do every day, whether it’s going shopping in Union Square, running in the Marina, going to comedy shows or just hanging out at the bars. San Francisco people are very friendly, so it is really easy to make new friends.

What does the future hold for you?
I am planning on graduating in spring 2007. I really enjoyed my internship at Gap Inc., so I will definitely consider reapplying for a full-time position in the near future. I learned to appreciate the world of fashion and retail during my internship, and I think this would be a really fun industry in which to start my career.
