"Clothes don't have to be a fortune to be brilliantly designed," says Patrick Robinson, Gap's head designer, profiled in one of USA Network's new "Character Approved" vignettes. Robinson is one of seven recipients of the network's "Character Approved Awards," honored for showing innovation, ingenuity, and inspiration in diverse fields—from art and architecture to food and fashion. Cameras follow Robinson behind the scenes at Gap's design headquarters in New York City, where he takes us on a tour of his work and world, and talks about the task of making great style accessible. "There's a feeling that fashion has to be elitist. I just don't believe that. I think everyone should be able to groove with it, get with it," he says.
As part of his award, USA Network donated $10,000 in Robinson's name to his charity of choice, The Global Fund. The "Character Approved" series premiered January 27, and airs for several months.
Gap sponsored a kid's workshop over five weeks from April to May at our flagship location at Dubai Mall. Girls ages 5-11 were able to participate in the workshop to learn more about fashion. The 32 girls who participated also took part in many activities including a photo shoot and learning choreography for a fashion show they participated in on Saturday the 16th of May.
