Old Navy Named One of the 2018 Best Workplaces in Retail by Great Place to Work® and FORTUNE
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – November 8, 2018 – Great Place to Work and FORTUNE have honored Old Navy as one of the 2018 Best Workplaces in Retail. The ranking is based on anonymous surveys representing over 631,000 employees from Great Place to Work-Certified companies in the retail industry. Great Place to Work, a global people analytics and consulting firm, evaluated over 60 factors measuring whether employees find their organizations create a Great Place to Work for All™. Eight-five percent of the evaluation is based on employees’ experiences of workplace trust and reaching their full potential at the organization, no matter who they are or what they do. The balance of each company’s score takes into account employees’ involvement in company innovation, the organization’s values, and the effectiveness of their leaders. Old Navy took the 14th spot on the list.
“At Old Navy, we strive to create an environment uniquely anchored in fun, where everyone feels like family,” said Sonia Syngal, President and CEO of Old Navy. “We believe that a great culture drives a great business, and our team is a key differentiator that enables Old Navy to compete and win.”
The Best Workplaces in Retail stand out for creating great workplaces for all employees, regardless of position or other personal characteristics. In 2018, Old Navy focused on fostering a purpose-led culture by creating powerful moments that bring fun and creativity into work every day. Through the launch of internal programs like the Creative Academy - a training program to inspire and cultivate creative talent - and the introduction of employee groups that help shape brand-wide engagement initiatives, the brand is continuously investing in ways for employees to squeeze more fun out of life together.
This year, the brand is on track to open more than 60 Old Navy stores across the U.S., Canada and Mexico by year's end. This kind of growth takes a lot of hard work and hustle, but also provides opportunity for its employees: new jobs, new promotions, and new ways to make an even bigger impact in local communities.
“People feel good shopping at retailers that treat employees well,” said Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work. “The Best Workplaces in Retail are thriving in an evolving marketplace because they inspire and empower their employees to give their best and provide exceptional experiences for customers.”
The Best Workplaces in Retail list is one of a series of rankings by Great Place to Work and FORTUNE based on employee feedback from Great Place to Work-Certified™ organizations. Old Navy was ranked as a Best Workplace for Diversity and Giving Back by Great Place to Work and FORTUNE in 2017.
