Gap Inc. Announces Second Dividend Increase in Fiscal 2013

New Annual Dividend Per Share Represents a 60 Percent Increase Over 2012

SAN FRANCISCO – August 22, 2013 – Gap Inc. (NYSE: GPS) today announced that its Board of Directors intends to increase the company’s annual dividend per share from $0.60 to $0.80 beginning in the third quarter of 2013. This represents a 60 percent increase over the fiscal 2012 dividend per share of $0.50. The announcement underscores the company’s commitment to distributing excess cash to shareholders.

The company also announced that its Board of Directors has authorized the third quarter dividend of $0.20 per share, payable on or after October 30, 2013 to shareholders of record at the close of business on October 16, 2013.

Since 2004 the company’s dividend has grown almost ten-fold, from $0.02 per quarter to $0.20. During the same period, Gap Inc. has returned over $14 billion to shareholders through share repurchases and dividends.
